NATCHEZ – Funeral services for Joe P. Etheridge, 72, of Natchez, who died on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Meadville Convalescent Center after a short stay in hospice care, will be at noon on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at New Beginnings Community Church with Jason McFarland officiating. Burial will follow at Felter–Harrigill Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday and from 11 a.m. until service time on Wednesday, at New Beginnings Community Church, 31 Woodmen Rd., Natchez.
Mr. Etheridge was born on Aug. 10, 1952, in Amite County to Russell Garrett Etheridge and Virgie Mae Whittington. He was a retired boilermaker as well as a retired nurse. He was an LPN for twenty-four years.
Mr. Etheridge was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and anything else that allowed him to get lost in peace in the woods.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Michael Etheridge; sisters-in-law, Johnette Etheridge and Hilda Etheridge; and niece, Tammy Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Byrd Etheridge; children, Serina Etheridge Blackwell, and Alisha and John Dennis Hughes; step-children, Brandi Taylor, Amanda and Justin Allred; brothers, Jim Etheridge, RG Etheridge, Tommy and Jody Etheridge; sister, Jan Blanchard; grandchildren, Tyler and Payton Blackwell, Brittany and Justin Prevost, Chris and Faith Hughes, Zane Blackwell, Taylor Hughes, Henna Blackwell, Madison Williams, Bentley Hastings, Sydney Blackwell, Bryson Allred, and Skyler Allred; great-grandchildren, Lilly Hughes, Lottie Blackwell, and Bentley Prevost.
Pallbearers will be Randy Blackwell, Tyler Blackwell, Zane Blackwell, Taylor Hughes, Justin Prevost, and Justin Allred.
Honorary pallbearers will be Russell Hastings, Lavell Goode, Ethan Clark, Noah Clark, and Will Clark.
The family would like to thank the staff at Meadville Convalescent Home who cared for Mr. Etheridge during his stay, as well as the staff of Deaconess Hospice, especially nurse Kanesha.
