Thousands are without electricity due to damage to power lines caused by strong winds on Wednesday afternoon.
Southwest Mississippi Electric Cooperative reported 3,614 meters are without power on Wednesday evening in the Meadville, Roxie and Cranfield areas. Over 2,000 of these outages are due to a transmission line outage that feeds two substations that services these areas, the electric cooperative said.
“Power cannot be restored in these areas until the transmission outage is fixed,” Southwest MS Electric Cooperative stated. “We have not been given an estimated restoration time for the repairs. Our crews will continue working all areas with damage. Thank you for your patience.”
Southwest Electric reports just over 700 outages in Adams County while Entergy reports just over 100 outages in Adams County.
