FERRIDAY, La. — Ferriday and Concordia Parish firefighters and other first responders came to stop a vacant house fire on Tuesday afternoon but were unable to stop businesses next door from catching flames.
The fire began at an abandoned house on Mickey Gilley Avenue and spread to Hewitt Roofing & Sheet Metal and Hewitt’s Archery next door. The businesses suffered significant damage.
Firefighters are still on scene fighting back hot spots from reigniting.
E.E. Wallace Boulevard is partially closed to allow first responder traffic.
