NATCHEZ — A man died from a gunshot wound on Sunday afternoon that has been ruled a homicide, authorities said.

Adams County Coroner James Lee said William Ray, 63, was pronounced deceased at 1:35 p.m. on the scene Sunday at 22 Hillcrest Drive in the area of Coverdale.

“This was an unbelievable act of violence,” Lee said. “My heart goes out to his family.”

The victim’s body will be transported to the state crime lab for autopsy, Lee added.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. This story will be updated with more information.
