Sheriff’s office looking for man wanted for questioning regarding homicide in Cloverdale area

NATCHEZ — The Adams County Sheriff’s Office has identified and is searching for a person of interest related to a homicide that took place Sunday afternoon in the Cloverdale area.

“At this time, Adam Cade Wheeler has been named as a person of interest in this case and is wanted for questioning,” Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten said.

Anyone who sees Wheeler or knows of his whereabouts is urged to call 911, ACSO at 601-442-2752 or Crime Stoppers to leave an anonymous tip at 888-442-5001.

On Sunday, ACSO responded to a call about a deceased person on Hillcrest Drive in the Cloverdale area, where they were able to identify 63-year-old William “Billy” Ray of Adams County as the victim of a shooting. Ray was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation by ACSO.
