NATCHEZ—A gas leak on Morgantown Road near Gamberi’s is closing the road near the intersection of U.S. 61.

Robert Bradford, Adams County Emergency Management director, said northbound travelers cannot turn left from U.S. 61 onto Morgantown Road.

“They will have to turn left at McDonald’s,” Bradford said.

He said traffic from Morgantown Road should take T. Waring Bennett to Covington Road and then go to U.S. 61.

“Atmos Energy is here now and will need to dig up the road to find the gas leak,” Bradford said. “They have said they will work overnight to find the leak.”

Natchez Police Chief Cal Green said her officers, Mississippi Department of Transportation officials, and Adams County Emergency Management Agency staffers are on the scene.
