CATAHOULA PARISH, La. — A house fire claimed the life of a 63-year-old Sicily Island man Sunday night.

The Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal reported at approximately 11:45 p.m. Sunday, the Sicily Island Volunteer Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 400 block of Peck Avenue. The fire destroyed the house.

Fire investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire, State Fire Marshal Bryan J. Adams said in a press release. Due to the extent of the damage, it’s unclear whether the home had working smoke alarms.
