Randall Alexander Newell Sr. was born on March 13, 1958, in Detroit, MI, to the late Albert Newell Sr. and the late Lennie Grace Loving.

Randall accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Smithland Baptist Church in Church Hill, MS. He was a graduate of the class of 1976 from South Natchez Adams High School. He worked for Natchez Steam Laundry early on in his adult life and went on to pursue a career in security at Angola. Later in life, he graduated from the police academy in Pearl, MS, and went on to become the Chief of Campus Police at Copiah-Lincoln Community College, where he received his associate’s degree and retired after 26 years of service. He loved to play and watch basketball. If you knew “Big Randy,” then you knew he was the biggest 49ers fan in the world. He wasn’t shy on the grill and battled Randy Jr., grilling every chance he got. He loved to bartend, travel, and spend time with his family and friends.

In 1979, Randall met Joyce Marie at a service station in Natchez, and knew he had to win her over. Eventually, they went on to be united in holy matrimony for 36 years, and to this union, three children were born. Randall loved the many dishes of food and those sweet jelly cakes Joyce prepared for him so much that he couldn’t dare let her or her recipes slip away.

Randall was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; parents, Albert Sr. and Grace; one brother, Kenny Barnes; aunts, Marsheen Givan, Artie Ellis, and Anise Greene; uncles, Edgar Newell, Alexander Newell, and Willie Edward Fleming; and grandmothers, Alberteen Newell and Pearl Reynolds.
