NATCHEZ — This Saturday is a free community wellness fair sponsored by the Morgantown Middle School Parent Teachers Association and Walmart’s national PTA Wellness Fairs grant.

The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Natchez Middle School gymnasium at 319 Seargent Prentiss Drive.

The Morgantown Middle School PTA had been awarded a grant from Walmart in the fall of 2024 to host the health and wellness fair, said organizer Kristina Carter.

“This grant is part of the healthy lifestyle initiative to improve the overall health and wellness of families across the country,” she said. “It gives us a chance to collaborate inside and outside the school students and teachers with the community and partners.”

A total of 15 community vendors have confirmed they would participate in the event on Saturday, offering free on-site health screenings, expert advice from healthcare providers, educational exhibits and wellness tips as well as healthy activities for all ages.

“There will be door prizes, bowling, jump rope, hula hoop, connect four and other fun activities,” Carter said.

One of the event’s key speakers is Quincy Futrell of Louisiana Lung Consultants, Carter said, adding at the end of the presentations, there will be a Q&A session for attendees to seek answers to their specific questions.

“Attendees can expect to hear great things to possibly better your health, for grown-ups and children alike,” she said. “This free event brings together families, local organizations and helps us to share valuable resources that promote the physical, mental and emotional well-being of our students and community. We’d like to thank all of our vendors and supporters, Walmart and Miss Lakita Davis, who has been a tremendous help allowing us to host this event.”
