NATCHEZ – William Edgar “Bill” Kennon passed into our Lord’s arms and reunited with his wife, Zelma, on May 3, 2025, thankful for His Grace and Mercy.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at New Covenant Presbyterian Church with Pastor John Franklin officiating.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at New Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Bill was born on May 6, 1927, in Jackson, MS, the son of Robert Lawrence Kennon Sr. and Elizabeth Louise Berry Kennon. He attended schools in San Diego, Birmingham, Mobile, San Diego again, Madison, MS, Water Valley, MS, and then graduated from Natchez High School in 1943, at the age of 16. After attending Copiah–Lincoln Junior College for one year, he joined the Navy, where he served at San Juan Naval Air Station and then attended the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. Following Naval service, he attended Louisiana State University, finishing with a degree in accounting. Bill then worked at Armstrong Rubber Company for 35 years, retiring in 1985 as Accounting Manager.

Bill was a longtime member of New Covenant Presbyterian Church, where he served in various capacities. He was a prior member of First Presbyterian Church.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Zelma Blackwell Kennon; parents; brother, Robert Lawrence Kennon Jr.; sister-in-law, Mary Louise Miles Kennon; daughter-in-law, Diane Yelverton Kennon; and twin great-granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Maitlyn Ryan.

Survivors include his three sons, William Lawrence Kennon of Natchez; Dr. Robert Harold Kennon and wife, Debra of Greer, SC; and Ronald Dale Kennon and wife, Melissa of Flowood, MS; five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials are requested to be made to New Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Now unto Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we may ask or think, according to His power that is at work in us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen
