VIDALIA, La. — Town of Vidalia officials have warned that alligators and other wildlife have been driven into residential parts of town because of the high Mississippi River level.
“Please be aware that there have been sightings of alligators around Polk Park Pond near Vidalia City Hall,” officials said in a social media post.
Officials are working on resolving the issue.
In the meantime, town officials warn that people should “use extra caution if visiting” the park, especially with children and small pets. Anyone who sees an alligator out of place should contact local authorities or animal control immediately and not attempt to handle the animal themselves.
