FAYETTE – Funeral services for Frances Ruth Cosey Ballard, 75, of Lorman, who departed this earthly life on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, in Natchez, will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Israel Baptist Church with Rev. James Jones Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home – Fayette Branch.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025, from 4:30 until 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home and on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
Frances was born on May 10, 1949, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Minerva Brown–Cosey and Alex Cosey Sr. She received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Jackson State University. She was employed with the Southwest Mississippi Mental Health Center until her retirement. Frances was a member of the Mount Israel Baptist Church, where she served as a mother, choir director/member, and the church clerk. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, shopping, playing games on her phone, and loving on her fur babies.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Tom” Ballard; parents; brothers, Oneal Cosey, Oscar Cosey Sr., David Cosey, and Alex Cosey Jr.; and sister, Zella Cosey.
Frances leaves to cherish her memories: sons, Master Chief Kenyatter Ballard (Myeisha) and Joseph Ballard; sister, Anita Cosey–January; grandchildren, Alex, Aaron, MaKayla, Jaylend, and Jayceon; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
