NATCHEZ – Services for William “Billy” Martin Geoghegan Jr., 78, of Ferriday, who died on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, in Monroe, LA, will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at St. Mary Basilica with Father Aaron Williams and Father Robert Dore officiating.
Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 1 until 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at St. Mary Basilica.
Billy was born on May 13, 1946, in Natchez, the son of William Martin Geoghegan Sr. and Dorothy Louise Dore.
He graduated from Cathedral High School in 1965 and attended Southern Mississippi University. He joined the Army National Guard and later worked as a technician for BellSouth for over 30 years, retiring in 2000.
Billy was a longtime member of St. Mary Basilica. He was also very active with the Knights of Columbus, serving as the Grand Knight for two years. Billy was President of the Athletic Association at Cathedral and a member of the Elks Lodge.
Billy was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Linda Vance Geoghegan; parents; sister, Margaret Ann “Peggy” Clarke; and stepmother, Geneva “Jenny” Geoghegan.
Survivors include his three sons, William Martin Geoghegan III of Vidalia, Patrick Thomas Geoghegan and his wife, Morgan of Lake St. John and Christopher Charles Geoghegan and wife, Leah of Ferriday; brother, Thomas Barker “Tommy” Geoghegan of Natchez; sister, Mary Jo Calcote and husband, Mark of Smithdale, MS; grandchildren, Thomas Geoghegan, Nicholas Scirocco, Cailey Geoghegan, Abigail Geoghegan, Amelia Geoghegan, Ashton Geoghegan, Brooklynn Geoghegan, Cullen Geoghegan and Collins Geoghegan.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Geoghegan, Nicholas Scirocco, Ashton Geoghegan, Cullen Geoghegan, Joe Murray, and Joe Garrity.
