NATCHEZ — A young woman has been injured in a shooting after midnight Friday during what police believe was a domestic dispute.

Natchez Police Department Investigator Jerry Ford said the shooting that happened around 12:30 a.m. on Lafayette Street resulted in “serious” injury to a woman.

Phillip Xavier Stokes Jr., 19, is wanted by NPD for attempted murder related to the incident.

Police believe he was in a car that drove by a house on Lafayette Street where the victim was on the porch, then drove away and came back a second time. Only the second time, the car stopped and shots were fired, Ford said.

“We’re looking for him now,” he said.

Ford added that the investigation of this incident is still ongoing.
