Attempted murder suspect in hospital following officer-involved shooting

NATCHEZ — Natchez Police Officers were attempting to serve a felony warrant for attempted murder late Sunday night when shots were fired.
Phillip Stokes Jr., 19, is wanted for attempted murder following a shooting that injured a woman after midnight Friday morning on Lafayette Street.
However, as police were attempting to serve the arrest warrant near the old Natchez Visitor Center on Canal Street late Sunday evening, Stokes began firing at officers, said Natchez Police Chief Cal Green.
Officers returned fire, critically injuring Stokes, who was transported to Merit Health Natchez hospital.
Injuries are unknown at this time.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigations was contacted and will be conducting the investigation.
Also arrested for the Friday shooting was Willeshia Williams, who has been charged with accessory after the fact of attempted murder.
