NATCHEZ – Funeral services for Mary Ann Paxton Proby, 66, of Natchez, who departed this earthly life on Thursday, May 8, 2025, in Baton Rouge will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 11 a.m. at West Gate Funeral Home (George F. West, Sr. Memorial Chapel) with Pastor Irving Dean officiating.

Services are under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, from 10 until 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mary was born on May 21, 1958, in Natchez, the daughter of Mary Moore Paxton and Edgar Paxton, Sr.  She was a 1976 graduate of North Natchez Adams High School and was a retired correctional officer/security guard at Wilkinson County Correctional Facility. Mary was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Elizabeth P. King, and brothers, Edgar Paxton Jr. and Tyrone Paxton.

Mary’s memories will be forever cherished by her sister, Addie Robinson; brothers, Edgar Charles Paxton and Clarence Henry Paxton; aunts, Marquerite Moore and Linda Jones; uncle, Charles Moore, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
