NATCHEZ – Funeral services for Theresa Hobbs Hargrave, 70, of Natchez, who departed this earthly life on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in Natchez, will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at New Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Ernest Ford, Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
Theresa was born on Dec. 15, 1954, in Lake Wales, FL, to the late George and Rose Lee Hobbs. She accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age and joined her neighborhood church in Winterhaven, FL. Theresa served in the United States Armed Forces in Germany from 1971-1974. With her focus being elementary education, she received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and her Master’s and Specialist degrees from Alcorn State University. Mrs. Hargrave retired from Wilkinson County Public School District after 42 years of service as an educator. Theresa enjoyed shopping, talking on the phone to her friends, and watching movies. Educating children was her passion, and she devoted her life to doing so.
Theresa was a devoted wife to the late Robert Lee Hargrave, Sr. They united in marriage on December 16, 1974, and to this union three children were born: Rosalind LaTrice Green (Elliot), Robert Lee Hargrave, Jr. (Talia,) and Raven LaShay Hargrave. She leaves five grandchildren to continue her legacy: Mia and Maya Banks, Reagan Leigh and Ryleigh Grace Hargrave, and Terry Lamont Turner. She also leaves to cherish her memories, brothers, David Alford, Tyrone Alford, Curtis Alford, and Dr. Kenneth Scott (Catherine); beloved cousin, Anthony Hobbs; one treasured aunt, Eunice Burch, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
