WATERPROOF – Funeral services for Woodrow Wiley Jr., 88, of Slidell, LA, formerly of Waterproof, LA, who died on May 10, 2025, at the Ochsner Hospital Main Campus, Jefferson, LA, will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church, Waterproof, LA, with Rev. Adrian Lundy officiating.

Burial will follow at the Good Samaritan Cemetery, Waterproof, under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home, Ferriday.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Woodrow Wiley Jr. was born on April 11, 1937, in Waterproof, LA, the son of Woodrow Wiley Sr. and Estelle Girly Wiley.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gladys Woods Wiley; one brother, “Bear”; three sisters, Carol Turner, Mary Wiley, and Amanda Wiley; and two godchildren, Clarice Battle, Henry Battle.

Woodrow Wiley Jr. leaves to cherish his loving memories to his three children, born to the union of Gladys Woods Wiley, Donna Bottley, LaPlace, LA, Pamela Wiley, Slidell, LA, Opal Wiley, Slidell, LA; one sister, Rita Franklin (Glenn), Ferriday; one aunt, Dorothy Spain, Brooklyn, NY; a goddaughter, Dr. Alana Nicholas, Birmingham, AL; a special grandson, Sheldon Bottley; ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, three that he reared as his own, Corey Woods, Gretna, LA, Chris Washington, Powder Springs, GA, Delcia Lesley, LaGrange, GA; four other children, Dajuan Johnson, Waterproof, LA, Damario Johnson, Los Angeles, CA, Virginia Hamblin, California, Tina Roby, Baton Rouge, LA; close cousins, Beulah Winston, California, Shirley Johnson (Arthur), Waterproof, LA, Jerry Buckner (Ethel), Ft. Polk, LA; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
