NATCHEZ — Water pressure has been restored for Natchez residents, however they’re advised that a precautionary boil water notice is in effect due to a temporary pressure loss caused by a lightning strike deactivating pumps at the main water plant.
“Since there was no break in the lines, Natchez Water Works will be issuing a precautionary boil water notice for (Natchez Water Works) customers,” Natchez Mayor Dan Gibson said. “As soon as the Mississippi Department of Health approves the samples provided, this notice will be lifted.”
Gibson said a loss in water pressure occurred for residents all over Natchez because a lightning strike at the water plant caused pumps to go off. Since Monday morning, “High pressure pumps have been activated and the situation has been resolved,” he said.
An official notice from NWW Superintendent Jeff Gamberi is forthcoming.
