NATCHEZ – Funeral services for David Lee Claiborne, 56, of Natchez, who departed this earthly life on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, in Natchez, will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Melvin White officiating.

Burial will follow at the Pine Grove Church Cemetery in Port Gibson under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

David was born on Aug. 17, 1968, in Warren County, the son of Marie Claiborne and Louis Charles Claiborne. He was a 1986 graduate from Port Gibson High School. David was the owner of his own masonry business. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowing, cooking, and watching football, especially the Baltimore Ravens.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

David leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife, Evelyn Hutchins Claiborne; sons, Davion Claiborne, Xzavier Johnson, and Darrion Johnson; daughter, Destiny Johnson; brother, Charles Claiborne; sisters, Brenda Claiborne, Joyce Claiborne, and Linda Parker (Johnny); and a host of in-laws, other relatives, and friends.
