NATCHEZ – Funeral services for Linda Carroll Johnson, 73, of Natchez, who departed this earthly life on Thursday, May 22, 2025, in Flowood, will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Forest Aid Baptist Church.
Burial will follow at the Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery in Fayette under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 3:30 until 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home and on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.
Linda was born on Nov. 24, 1951, in Adams County, the daughter of Jessie Parker Carroll and Marrion Carroll. She was a high school graduate from Sadie V. Thompson High School. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Jackson State University and later received her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Southern University. Linda was a teacher for the Natchez Adams School District for over forty years until her retirement. She was a member of the Forest Aid Baptist Church. She enjoyed teaching the youth, playing computer games, watching television, and spending time with her family, especially her grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents; maternal grandmother, Wilhelmina Parker; maternal grandfather, Mose Parker; paternal grandmother, Mary Rowan; paternal grandfather, Donald Rowan; and her husband, Wilbert “Melvin” Johnson.
Linda leaves to cherish her memories: daughters, Tia Johnson–Hardin (Julius) and Mia Johnson; brother, Ernest Carroll; grandchildren, Jayceon Hardin and Trindin Hardin; five nieces, one nephew, three great-nieces, six great-nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
