NATCHEZ — Natchez is under a severe thunderstorm watch until 9 p.m., which will soon be upgraded to a warning, said Natchez Mayor Dan Gibson.

In a social media post, he and Dr. Neifa Hardy said that the Adams County Safe Room opened at 5:30 p.m. and would remain open until the threat had passed.

The storm could bring strong winds and heavy rain. If you plan to go to the Safe Room, please bring food, blankets, medication, and small pets in kennels are welcome.
