NATCHEZ — Judge George Armstrong Public Library will celebrate the Summer Reading Program again this year, and the theme is “Color Our World.”
The kick-off is Friday, May 30, 2025, at 11 a.m., presented by award-winning performer Dorian LaChance. Pigments of Your Imagination, Color Our World Magic and Puppet Show, featuring magic, puppets, fun, and storytelling, is an interactive program for children. Dorian and the kids will explore how art and creativity color the world around us.
On Tuesday, June 3, at 10:30 a.m. — Sip n Paint with Ms. Gladys. She will entertain us through art, abstract and chalk, paint, and markers.
June 10th Story time with Ms. Rickquel Rose. She will introduce us to her Tiny Hungry Troll as well as other fantastic stories.
June 17, @ 10:30 a.m. with Tim Spinosa of X-tremetalent. Mr. Spinosa is an internationally acclaimed inventor and performer. His magic show is filled with family-friendly comedy, magic, and full of hilarious audience participation.
June 24, @ 10:30 a.m. is Music with Mr. Alvin Shelby. He is a teacher, a renowned, celebrated national and local musician. Mr. Shelby blends Jazz, Gospel, Blues, and Rock’ n Roll in his presentations.
Movie Matinee, Wednesdays, June 4-July 30, @ 1:30 p.m. Enjoy movie such as Sonic, Hedgehog 2, Moana 2, Mufasa: The Lion King, The “Day the Earth Blew Up – a Looney Tunes Movie, Kung Fu Panda 4, Dog Man, Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted, and Flush Away.
Game Days, Thursday, June 12 & 26 @ 2 p.m.
Adult programs — June 5, Medicare Fraud Presentation from 10:30-12:30, and an evening of music and sing-along with Will, June 26, from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m.
In addition to summer programs for youth and adults, The George Armstrong Library provides other valuable service to the community. Internet access is available at the library with conveniently located computer terminals. Need to print or send a fax? The library has you covered. For a nominal fee, patrons may print black and white or color copies, and the helpful library staff will be happy to assist you if you need to send a fax. Your library card also entitles you to a genealogy department to assist in research with access to Ancestry.com, free downloadable books through Hoopla and a Teen Zone with popular games and Game Day on designated Saturdays. The library subscribes to over fifty (50) popular magazines and there is story time for toddlers and daycares. A meeting room is also available to reserve.
