CENTER POINT, LA – Raymond Wayne Murray, 78, of Center Point, LA, formerly of Ferriday, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025, at the Hilltop Nursing Home in Pineville, LA, surrounded by loving family and friends.
Born in Wisner, LA on Sept. 20, 1946, to Georgia Mae (Sprole) Murray and Exodus Murray of Ridgecrest, LA. Wayne lived a life filled with love, laughter, and kindness. He was known for his gentle demeanor, unwavering generosity, and constant loyalty to his family.
In his free time, Wayne enjoyed gardening, raising his chickens, and tinkering on his mechanical endeavors, finding solace and joy in the simple moments spent with family and friends. He was a proud Grandfather and an avid dog owner, and enjoyed his German Shepherd and two Mastiffs. He was often found spoiling his granddaughters with candy or fixing motorcycles and trucks for his grandsons, who claimed they just fell apart.
Wayne will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, Linda (Ready) Murray of 30 years; his sisters, Diane McNemar and Betty Murray; his children, Raymond Murray, Rhonda (Murray) Faucett, Leo Murray, and stepchildren, Angela (Dennis) Shupak, and Mike Dennis.
Wayne was an active member of the Full Gospel Church at Center Point. He touched the lives of many and will be remembered fondly for his kindness, compassion, and gentle spirit.
Wayne graduated from Ferriday High in 1964. He worked as a Field Technician for the Union Pacific Railroad for seventeen years, where he was respected for his dedication and hard work. He later worked for North American Energy Services as a Steam and Gas Turbine Millwright and for the Louisiana State Military Department as a Maintenance Technician for YCP. Wayne approached every task with diligence and integrity, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of working with him.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, June 1, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Full Gospel Church in Center Point with Pastor Aubry Tyler officiating.
