NATCHEZ — Sounds of laughter and excitement from young children echoed through the halls of the Judge George W. Armstrong Library as the library began its summer reading program called “Color Our World” on Friday morning.

The first talent hosted by the library, Mississippi Magic Man Dorian LaChance, tried to wow guests with his magic tricks while his mischievous friend Stinky the skunk tried to steal the show.

Every time he did, more laughter erupted.

The children also met Chef Duncan the duck puppet and a talented teddy bear who likes to knit while no one is watching.

LaChance not only showed the children and adults his magic tricks, but shared with them some of his favorite books to read. Mysteries like Nancy Drew are his favorites, he said.

Each child was gifted a bookmark with website information on the back, so they too could learn magic and explore some of LaChance’s favorite books.
