FRANKLIN COUNTY – Officials with the Madison Police Department are wondering why one of the organization’s vehicles was spotted at an event in Franklin County this weekend.
According to a release from the department, the vehicle was photographed at an event in Franklin County on June 1, despite being at a local mechanic’s shop for repair.
The department said the driver of the vehicle was not an employee of the city of Madison, and the vehicle had not been authorized to be driven to Franklin County.
“We understand that there are occasions where a vehicle in for repairs has to be driven to determine certain issues, or to test whether the vehicle is properly repaired,” Major Robert Sanders said in the release. “However, this was not the case with this vehicle.”
Once informed of the incident, the Madison Police Department retrieved the vehicle and transferred it to a different vendor to complete the repairs. The department continues to investigate the matter.
