Robinson tapped to lead band programs at Jefferson County Schools

The Jefferson County School District (JCSD)  Joshua Robinson is the new head band director for the Jefferson County School District (JCSD).

Robinson was most recently the Jefferson County Middle School Band Director and brings six years of experience to role.

Since joining JCSD in 2023, Robinson has transformed the middle school band into a regional powerhouse—earning top honors at competitions and capturing the hearts of the community with electrifying performances.  A native of Beaumont, Texas, he is a graduate of Central Medical Magnet High School and Alcorn State University, He is the son of Margaret Lee Valmor and a devoted member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. He is also the father of one daughter, Rose Robinson.

“Teaching music is not just what I do—it is who I am,” Robinson said in a news release posted to the district’s social media pages. “I believe in using music as a tool to inspire, to discipline, and to open doors of opportunity. I am honored to lead the Sounds of Thunder and excited to build on the legacy of excellence here at Jefferson County.”
Robinson’s vision for the program includes enhancing musicianship, expanding performance opportunities, and continuing the tradition of college band scholarship offers for JCSD students.
Principal Sandra Oliver shared, “Mr. Robinson brings the perfect blend of heart, discipline, and innovation. Our band program is in great hands.”
