UMB promotes Messer, Moroney

NATCHEZ – United Mississippi Bank (UMB) recently announced two promotions.

Michael G. Messer was promoted to Vice President, Systems Administrator. In his new capacity, Messer will continue to help oversee the bank’s IT infrastructure, cybersecurity initiatives, and technology strategy while taking on expanded leadership responsibilities. He previously served as Assistant Vice President, Systems Administrator.

“Michael has been a key driver of our technological progress and system reliability,” said Adrian Sandel, CEO of UMB. “This promotion reflects our confidence in his vision, expertise, and ongoing contributions to keeping our systems secure and our operations running smoothly.”

Messer joined UMB in 2014 and has been instrumental in implementing innovative technologies, strengthening data protection measures, and ensuring seamless system performance for both staff and customers. Previously, he served as IT Systems Specialist at Britton & Koontz Bank and Home Bank. With over 23 years of IT and banking experience, he brings deep technical knowledge and a proactive approach to managing the bank’s critical systems.

Messer holds an associate’s degree in Local Area Networking from Co-Lin. He has served as the Youth and Children’s Pastor at Natchez Church of God for 14 years and achieved the rank of Bishop in the Church of God in 2024. Married to Kristie Taylor Messer, they have three children, Rebekah, Faith, and Gregory.

UMB promoted Andrew Moroney to VP/Credit Administrator. In his new role, Moroney will oversee the bank’s credit administration function, ensuring sound credit practices, regulatory compliance, and the continued support of the bank’s mission to meet the lending needs of the communities it serves. Andrew previously held the position of Assistant Vice President, Credit Analyst.

“Andrew has consistently demonstrated a deep understanding of credit risk and portfolio management, as well as a strong commitment to our customers and community values,” said CEO Adrian Sandel. “We’re proud to recognize his contributions with this well-earned promotion.”

Since joining UMB in 2016, Moroney has played an instrumental role in strengthening the bank’s credit analysis and underwriting processes. With close to 10 years of experience in community banking and commercial credit, he brings both expertise and leadership to the bank’s growing lending team.

Moroney holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Finance, from Mississippi State University and is actively involved in the community, graduating from Leadership Natchez and serving on the finance committee at Beau Pre. Moroney has also been active in the Natchez Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals. Married to Abbey Massey Moroney, they attend First Baptist Church of Natchez.
