April 3, 1958 – April 6, 2025

NATCHEZ—John Anderson Williams, 67, died at his home on April 6, 2025.

John was born to Roger Edward and Andree Benoist Williams on April 3, 1958, in St. Joseph, MO.

The family lived in St. Joseph, Tuscaloosa, AL, and Sedalia, MO, where he graduated from Smith-Cotton High School. John attended State Fair Community College and became a licensed practical nurse. He loved being a nurse and later attended Rockhurst College/Research Medical Center College of Nursing. John graduated cum laude and soon after joined the Army to put his skills as a registered nurse to use in service of his country. John’s nursing career took him to too many cities to mention, but he excelled wherever he went.

Upon retirement, John settled in Glenwood, AL, in order to be close to family and the Gulf Coast, both of which he loved.

John is survived by his two sisters, Caroline Polson and Mary “Missy” Prince (Mike); his aunt, Doris Ann Benoist, and multiple beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Andree; brothers, Roger Edward and Mark Clinton Williams; uncles, Jack Benoist, and Lyman Darling, and aunt, Caroline Benoist Darling.

John will be buried with full military honors in Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home. The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. Father Aaron Williams of St. Mary Basilica will preside.

Caroline and Missy wish to say thank you to retired Army Col. Bill Howard for his invaluable assistance with John’s affairs and funeral arrangements.
