MUNICIPAL ELECTION RESULTS: Woodville elects mayor, aldermen

On Tuesday, a general election was held for several municipalities across the State of Mississippi, including in the City of Woodville.

According to unofficial returns, Jessie Stewart, Democrat, won the mayor’s race outright with 214 votes to Draper Anderson’s 89 votes. A total of 312 ballots were counted, including 31 absentee ballots and 281 precinct ballots. Voter turnout was around 50 percent.

Four aldermen elected Tuesday for the City of Woodville are Meagan Spillman with 194 votes, William Carter with 192 votes, Frances Bailey with 172 votes, and Louis D’Aquilla with 163 votes.

A fifth candidate, Vivian Lucas Barnes, trailed behind the others with 130 votes.
