MUNICIPAL ELECTION RESULTS: Cities of Meadville, Roxie, Bude elect mayor, alderpersons

On Tuesday, June 3, a general election was held for most municipalities across the State of Mississippi, except those with special charters like Natchez.
Municipal elections were also held in the nearby cities of Woodville, Roxie, Bude, Meadville and Fayette. Below are the results.
ROXIE
In Roxie, Sharon Davis won the mayor’s race. Aldermen elected were Cynthia Doss, Jeremy Dyer, Robin Hunt, Santana Jenkins and Alexis Thompson.
BUDE
In the Town of Bude, four incumbents lost their bids for re-election on Tuesday, the Franklin Advocate reports.
Elvia Brown won with 102 votes to top incumbent Linda Gail Green and Tiffany Kyzar in the race for Mayor.
In the race for Alderman-at-Large, challenger Anna McCormick defeated incumbent James M. Griffith Jr. with 92 votes. In the race for Ward 1, Marla Watts Murray beat incumbent Norma J. Kelly and challenger Victoria Watts with 36 votes.
Maggie Bethley ran unopposed in the Ward 2 race and received 42 votes.
In Ward 3, incumbent Jillian Dunmore earned 39 votes to beat challenger Tralisa Shante’ Amos. For Ward 4 Alderman Edward Middleton defeated incumbent Jeffery Quick with 40 votes.
MEADVILLE
In Meadville, incumbent Mayor Lane Reed ran unopposed to earn another four-year term.
Incumbents Kay Scott, with 77 votes; Bart Jones, with 66 votes; and Josh Scott, with 75 votes won re-election to the Board of Aldermen. Joining them on the Board starting July 1 will be Tyler Blalock with 68 votes and Stephanie Sullivan with 82 votes — the most of any of the eight alderman candidates.
Not elected were David Clanton with 61 votes, Kaky Tindle with 48 votes and Sara Scott with 43 votes.
WOODVILLE
In Woodville, Jessie Stewart, a Democrat, won the mayor’s race with 214 votes to Draper Anderson’s 89 votes, according to unofficial results.
A total of 312 ballots were counted in Woodville, including 31 absentee ballots and 281 precinct ballots. Voter turnout was around 50 percent.
Four aldermen elected Tuesday for the City of Woodville are Meagan Spillman with 194 votes, William Carter with 192 votes, Frances Bailey with 172 votes, and Louis D’Aquilla with 163 votes.
A fifth candidate, Vivian Lucas Barnes, trailed behind the others with 130 votes.
FAYETTE
The City of Fayette, the seat of Jefferson County, chose five people to serve on the Board of Aldermen and formally reelected Mayor Londell Eanochs, who was unopposed.
Elected to the Board of Aldermen were Fredrick “Fred” Washington with 368 votes, Derrick Perryman with 329 votes, Ella Jean Hudson with 311 votes, Deliquin ‘Quincy’ James with 288 votes, and Jarret Dyer with 275 votes.
Not elected were Cedric Wayne Doss with 249 votes and Jiwaski Barker with 216 votes.
