NATCHEZ – Barbara Ann Atwell, 78, passed away on May 31, 2025, at Merit Health in Natchez. Born on Aug. 8, 1946, Barbara was a lifelong homemaker. She will be remembered as the sweetest and most caring and generous mother and wife. Everyone who came into her home was welcomed and treated like family. She had a green thumb and loved growing flowers and plants, with red geraniums being her favorite. She also took pride in the elephant ears that grew in her front yard.

She is preceded in death by her son, Samuel Atwell Jr.; her parents, Arlon and Margaret Lasyone; and her three sisters, Betty Ann Stone, Lois Giles, and Stella Recoulley.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Samuel Atwell Sr.; daughters, Cynthia Perrault, Beth Atwell, and Chrys McGahey (aka my other daughter); two grandchildren, Elizabeth Perrault and Laura Perrault; niece, Cauleen Hall Roberts and many other nieces and nephews.

She will be dearly missed. There will be an emptiness in her family’s life without her.
