She was born in Decatur, IL, on July 15, 1934, and her family moved to Plaquemines Parish in 1941. She and her husband raised their family in Port Sulphur prior to moving to Belle Chasse in 1995. She was employed by the United States Postal Service for 35 years and worked with her husband in their Gulf/Chevron Oil Jobbership and with her mother at the Delta Club Restaurant. She was a Brownie leader, Cub Scout leader, Catechism teacher, room mother, and class mentor for Holy Family Catholic School in Natchez, Eucharistic Minister at River Bend Nursing Home, and so much more. She loved the carnival and was a Maid in the Royal Courts of Iris in 1983 and 1985. She was known as “The Grande Dame” in her sons’ carnival Krewes. She also loved to travel, shop, and eat out. In 2006, she purchased her “Hurricane House” in Natchez, and made so many wonderful friends. She loved her time with them. She never knew a stranger and was on a first-name basis with all the store clerks! She was always willing to adopt anyone who needed love! Her heart was always open and willing to accept everyone, regardless! She will be missed by so many loved ones but she lived her life fully and until the very end! She lived a life of service to her family, her community, and her Church!
The family would like to thank Vicky Everage, Kathy Allen, and Renee Perez for their loving care and Pulse Home Health and Heart of Hospice for their compassion and for making Mom feel loved and understood!
