Vidalia Police arrest drive-by shooting suspect

VIDALIA, La. — Vidalia Police officers arrested a Port Gibson man on Friday who is wanted for charges that stem from a drive-by shooting in Fayette.
VPD executed an arrest warrant for Courtez Damper.
He was wanted bythe Fayette Police Department for accessory after the fact related to a drive-by shooting that occurred on April 11, 2025, in Fayette.
He was taken into custody without incident.
“Fayette PD called upon us to assist them in finding and arresting this individual,” said Vidalia Police Chief Joey Merrill. “Our officers quickly located and took this subject into custody. Our department is always ready to respond when called upon.”
Damper signed extradition paperwork, agreeing to be picked up and transported to Fayette to answer the charges, police said.
