BASTROP, LA – Frances Nadine Crutchfield, 88, of El Dorado, AR, formerly Vidalia, gained her angel wings on June 11, 2025.
Born on June 25, 1936, in Bastrop, LA, Frances was the daughter of James “Chubby” Williams and Mildred “Mickey” Hogan Williams. A graduate of Vidalia High School, she was a homemaker and employee of Southwest Bell. She married the love of her life, Clinton Crutchfield, on June 18, 1960, in Vidalia.
A true matriarch in every sense of the word, Frances Nadine Crutchfield was the glue that kept our family connected. She will be deeply missed by all those who love her most. We will honor her legacy by maintaining those strong family ties through continued gatherings, stories, and laughter until we are all reunited at our final family reunion in the sky.
Just like her signature dishes, Frances was often replicated but never duplicated. Though many brave souls tried their hand, renditions of her famous Thanksgiving Macaroni Casserole never quite met the mark. She truly had a magic touch. Whether it was her fabulous cooking or artwork, it was evident that she did everything with great love and care. No detail was too small, and nothing was overlooked. It is with this same keen eye that she kept and loved her family so well for 88 years.
An artist, crafter, seamstress, blackjack dealer, and amazing cook, she wore many different hats throughout her life. However, her most treasured roles were those of mother and grandmother— Our beloved Granny Franny. Her home radiated with love and oozed with creativity. She embraced the chaos of summer visits from all her grandchildren, even arming them with canvases and paintbrushes— a brave venture, indeed. She never shied away from life’s messier moments and was always there to lend a listening ear and provide sage advice. Her home enveloped all who entered with a sense of warmth— a hug only a grandmother’s house can offer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clinton Crutchfield; daughter, Teddi Gale, and her life-long partner in crime and cousin, Yvonne Franklin Roberson.
Survivors are son, Clinton Crutchfield Jr. (Patricia); daughter, Amy Verbeek (Roelant). Her legacy of strong independent granddaughters, Alex, Bridget, Lauren, Sierra, Kelsey, Makynn, Madison, Emily, Emma, and grandson, Sawyer; great-grandchildren Kin, Marcie, Braylee, Archer, Sylas, Miles, Parker, William, Catherine, and Penelope. Along with her brothers and sisters, David Peck (Frances), Billy Hoffman, Cindy Kohlmann (Gary), and Tamara Goats (Larry).
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Chemin A Haut State Park near Bastrop, LA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Cremation services provided by Youngs Funeral Directors, El Dorado, AR.
