JACKSON — A local softball player won standout honors at the Magnolia Sports Association’s Grandslam Softball Showcase Game on Friday.
Jayda Myles, a junior second baseman/shortstop who played softball last year at Adams County Christian School, played in the MSA Grandslam Softball Showcase Game early Friday afternoon, The showcase for high school sophomores and juniors across the state took place at Smith-Wills Stadium.
That game was a seven-inning contest with a scheduled first pitch at 12 p.m. and was the second of four MSA All-Star Games featuring not only some of the best 10th– and 11th-graders from Mississippi, but also the top rising stars from the seventh and eighth grades in the Magnolia State.
Myles played on Team B against Team A in the Grandslam Softball Showcase Game. Among the players joining Myles on that team were Journi Hunt, a junior third baseman/shortstop from Brookhaven High School, as well as two players from both Caledonia High School and Noxapater Attendance Center.
Myles went 2 for 4 at the plate with two walks and was awarded the Slugger Award for her performance.
