NATCHEZ — Adams County Emergency Management Director Robert Bradford is expected to seek financial help from the Natchez Board of Aldermen to help pay for improvements to the now inoperable county emergency siren system.
The Natchez Mayor and Board of Aldermen meet Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Council Chambers, 115 S. Pearl St., across from City Hall.
The Adams County Board of Supervisors has approved spending almost $60,000 for repairs and new software to operate the sirens. Four of those sirens are in the City of Natchez, thus the request for about $15,000 from the city to help cover the costs.
Also on the agenda are updates from City Community Development Director James Johnston covering the Americans with Disabilities Act and aesthetics improvements downtown, the Natchez City Auditorium, the Depot on the Bluff and construction of the site for the U.S. Colored Troops Monument and the Hiram Revels Gateway Infrastructure.
Public Works Director Justin Dollar is seeking to have two parking spots designated downtown as bus parking, one on Rankin at Main Street and one on Franklin at Commerce.
Senior Center Director Carla Monroe will seek permission to attend two conferences, one in Biloxi and one in Jackson.
City Attorney Jack Lazarus is expected to discuss the approval of a nine-month option for the sale of city-owned land at 318 Seargent S. Prentiss Drive with Horne Properties, including a letter of the city’s responsibilities to the developer. He will also discuss the final payment for asphalt patch repairs and the sale of city-owned property to Weathersby Carter on New Street for the average of two appraisals, which is $2,930.
Each alderman, the city clerk and the mayor will provide individual reports during the meeting.
