FERRIDAY, La. — Authorities are on the lookout for a purple Dodge Charger and a man suspected of a drive-by shooting in Ferriday. Multiple police officers stopped a similar vehicle on Carter Street just after the incident Wednesday morning, but it turned out not to be the suspect, police said.
Ferriday Police Chief Derrick Freeman said gunshots were fired in the area of Seventh Street at approximately 11 a.m., apparently aimed at another vehicle. However, Freeman said there was no visible damage, nor was anyone injured in the shooting.
Freeman identified Donnie Sanders Jr. as a suspect and said he was driving a purple Dodge Charger with tinted windows.
Shortly after the incident, Vidalia Police responded to a BOLO alert for the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on Carter Street on a vehicle that matched the description, but it turned out not to be Sanders, according to VPD investigator Sam King.
Anyone who sees this person or the vehicle should call 911 or the Ferriday Police Department.
