NATCHEZ – Funeral services for Damien Da’Shaun Stewart, 35, of Natchez, who departed this earthly life on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, in Jackson, will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at noon at St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church with Rev. Anthony Colenberg officiating.
Burial will follow at the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 4:30 until 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home and will continue on Sunday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
Damien was born on Oct. 2, 1989, in Natchez, the son of Oscar and Carmen Stewart. He was a proud 2008 graduate of Natchez High School. Damien went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Alcorn State University and later obtained a Master’s degree in Music Education from Jackson State University. He served as a music teacher and band director at Jackson Central-Merry High School in Jackson, TN. He was a member of St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church, where he was actively involved as a drummer and a member of the Young People’s Division (YPD). He was also a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and the SOD Club. In his spare time, Damien enjoyed playing video games, listening to music, watching sports, and participating in all things band-related.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Beatrice and Eli Jackson, Richard and Ethel Ellis, Sam and Clara Randall, Geneva Quinn, and Cicero Quinn; grandparents, Samuel Stewart Sr. and Marva Stewart; Rev. John and Eliza Quinn; and uncle, John Quinn Jr.
Damien leaves to cherish his memories: parents, Oscar and Carmen Stewart; sister, Chelsea Q. Lewis (Nicholas); nephew, Greyson Lewis; fiancée, Charde Lyons; uncle, aunts, other relatives, and friends.
