WEST MONROE, La. – The Concordia 9U All-Stars team showed their resilience and talent this past weekend, emerging as undefeated district champions at the Dixie Youth District Tournament held June 20-21 in West Monroe. The team clinched the title with a perfect three-game sweep, capped by a dominant championship win and a dramatic comeback along the way.

The All-Stars opened tournament play on Thursday, June 20, with a close 8-6 win over host team West Monroe, fueled by strong pitching from Patrick Goldman and Dylan Hutchins. Later that evening, Concordia faced Monroe in a game that tested their resolve.

Down 8-4 entering the final at-bat, Concordia mounted an incredible comeback. With the bases loaded, MC Mardis hit a line drive to the fence, clearing the bases and scoring himself on a throwing error to tie the game. A few batters later, Eli Brixey delivered the walk-off hit with a clutch triple, giving Concordia a thrilling 9-8 victory over West Monroe.

“I was proud of their fight in that one — from top to bottom — because it looked pretty bleak, but they never gave up,” head coach Beau Brashier said.

On Saturday, June 21, the team faced West Monroe once again – this time with the championship on the line – and left no doubt. Henny Brashier pitched a complete game gem, allowing just three hits, no earned runs, and striking out five. Backed up by solid defense and an aggressive offense, the All-Stars cruised to a 12-1 victory.

“Our lineup hit from top to bottom and kept a lot of pressure on them,” Brashier said.

Now, with a district championship under their belts, the Concordia 9U All-Stars are shifting their focus to the Dixie Youth State Tournament, scheduled for July 4–6 in Alexandria.

“This group felt like we had a good chance to win state last year,” the coach said. “We’re going to give it our best shot to get it done this time.”

The team heads into state play with momentum, confidence, and an urge to finish what they started.
