WINNSBORO, LA – Graveside services for Donald “Don” Howard Marshall, 86, of Lake St. John, LA will be held at Boeuf Prairie Methodist Church Cemetery, 4590 Hwy 135 Winnsboro, LA 71295, on Friday, July 4, 2025, at 10 a.m., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday on Thursday, July 3, 2025, from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m.

Don was born on Friday, Jan. 20, 1939, in Jennings, LA, to Alfred James Marshall and Sally Jester Marshall. He passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at his home. Don was a lifelong farmer, teaching generations to love the land and value the farming community. He was a graduate from Castle Heights Military Academy in 1957 and a member of the Confederate Air Force Ghost Squadron. Don was very involved with the Northeast LA  4-H District Livestock Shows and Concordia Parish 4-H livestock, helping numerous children with livestock exhibits. Don served as the past president and Board Member of Concordia Parish Farm Bureau. Don served on the Louisiana Soybean Research and Promotion Board for several years. He was an active pilot in his younger years and loved to hunt. Don spent his life outdoors and loved spending time with his wife and daughters. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

He is reunited with his parents, Alfred James Marshall and Sally Jester Marshall; father and mother-in-law, CM and Ruby Davis; granddaughter, Rachel Karen Pritchard; and sister, Lindy Marshall.

Those left behind to cherish Don’s memories are his loving wife, Carolyn A. Davis Marshall; daughters, Dawn Elmore and her husband, Donnie, Melanie Mulberry and her husband, Ronnie, Cindy Pritchard and her husband, Steve, and Dianna Haring and her husband, Bo; bonus daughter, Tammy Hendricks; grandchildren, Josh Carr and his wife, Sydney, Brett Mulberry and his wife, London, Makenzie Mulberry, Dallas Elmore, Darcy Elmore and her husband, Zac Watkins, Vance Pritchard and his wife, Anna and Cassie Curtis and her husband, Blake, Sarah Haring, and Brett Haring; bonus grandson, Brad Thibodeaux; great-grandchildren, Blakely, Eleanor, Ella, Owen, Grace, Jack, and Archie; brother, Harvey “Butch” Marshall and his wife, Linda; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Those honoring Donald as pallbearers will be Josh Carr, Dallas Elmore, Vance Pritchard, Brett Haring, Brad Thibodeaux, Austin Taylor, and Brett Mulberry.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Donald Marshall Memorial Scholarship for the Northeast LA Livestock Show, Inc., P.O. Box 726, Delhi, LA, 71232, LA Farm Bureau Scholarship Foundation, Ferriday Methodist Church (The Donor name, Donor address and we also need a name and address of a family member). We will send a letter to the family letting them know that a donation has been made in honor of their loved one. The check should be made out to Louisiana Farm Bureau Foundation, Inc. and mailed to: P.O.
