FERRIDAY, La. — Around 20 “floats” — boats, jet skis and patriotic pontoons — were all decorated for the 2025 Lake Saint John Flotilla on Saturday, a parade on water that has been a favorite tradition among lakegoers for more than three decades.

These were judged for their themed decorations, with cash prizes awarded to the top three.

Finishing in third, the “Houston We Have a Party” float by Paige Foster was truly out of this world, complete with cow-abducting aliens.

“Bayou Bananas,” finishing in second place, knocked it out of the park with Cane Lanehart’s baseball float with a certain appeal.

But ultimately, the Smack Down wrestling float by Mike Cook became the 2025 LSJ Flotilla’s grand champion.

In addition to the parade floats, the piers of Lake Saint John from which spectators watched the floatilla were also decorated for a chance to win best pier prizes. In third place is Caroline Rhoades’ pier, second is the Bennett Family pier, and third is the Waller–Savoy pier.

Festivities conclude Saturday with fireworks at dusk.
