VIDALIA — Paige Bryan and Taylor Rodgers combined on a two-hitter as the Vidalia 16-and-under Seniors All-Stars defeated the New Mexico Seniors All-Stars 13-1 in five innings late Saturday night.

The win came second round of the Little League Southwestern Regional Tournament at the Concordia Recreation District 3 complex.

Bryan got the start and was the winning pitcher. She held New Mexico to one earned run on two hits and two walks in four innings. Rodgers came in to pitch the fifth inning and struck out two of the three batters she faced.

And not only were the pitching and defense rock solid, so was Vidalia’s offense as it collected 13 hits — much to the delight of head coach Micah Hughes.

“We hit the ball well and didn’t leave many runners on,” Hughes said. “We were very solid on defense and offense tonight. We hit the ball real well. That’s what we’re capable of. That’s a pretty good night. And we got key hits when we needed them.”

Emilee Howard had Vidalia’s only extra-base hit with a triple and she finished 3-for-3 with one run batted in. Nikki Harbor drove in three runs and went 2-for-2. Karlee Woodruff was 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and Mackayla Hughes was 3-for-4 with one RBI.

The Vidalia 16-and-under Seniors All-Stars next play at 4 p.m. Monday against Louisiana District 5.
