NATCHEZ — Services for Brenda Joyce Green Squalls, 60, of San Bernardino, Calif., formerly of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015, at Kaiser Permente Memorial Hospital in Ontario, Calif., will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Sibley with the Rev. Douglas Logan officiating.

Visitation will be from 5 to 5:45 p.m. today at the funeral home with a celebration of life at 6 p.m.

Visitation will continue at 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Squalls was born Jan. 31, 1955, in Natchez, the daughter of Eddie Green and Bertha Washington Green.

Brenda was a 1973 graduate of North Natchez High School and later attended Alcorn State University where she received a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education.

While in Natchez, Brenda was a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church and attended the family church, Mount Olive.

In California, Brenda united with St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church in La Puente. Her favorite job was working with the children as a special education and pre-school teacher in the San Bernardino County School System. Brenda was a great cook. Her favorite pastime was spending time talking and listening to her granddaughters.

Mrs. Squalls was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Donald Wayne Green.

Survivors include her loving and devoted husband, Robert Squalls Sr.; one son, Robert Squalls Jr. of San Bernardino; one daughter, LaTrice Squalls Smith of San Tan Valley, Ariz.; one stepson, Deon Dockery of Chicago; her mother of Natchez; three brothers, Clarence Green and Garnett “Mickey” Green, both of Natchez, and Michael Green and wife, Jennifer, of Jackson; one sister, Lola Woods of Natchez; two grandchildren, Jaylen and Saniya Smith of San Tan Valley; two aunts, Dorothy Thompson and husband, Joseph, of Sibley and LePora Ellis of Natchez; three uncles, Alfred Green of Natchez, Chester Washington and wife, Alice, of Sibley and Elijah Washington Sr. and wife, Lucinda, of Chicago; and a number of uncles, aunts, other relatives and friends.
