Ethel McNeil Davis

June 24, 1909 – Aug. 16, 1999

MEADVILLE – Services for Ethel McNeil Davis, 90, of Baton Rouge, La., who died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, at Baton Rouge General, will be at 1 p.m. today at Franklin Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will be at Roxie Cemetery under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home.

Visitation is from noon until service time today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Davis was born June 24, 1909 in Adams County, the daughter of Ralph Willard McNeil and Mattie E. McNeil.

She was an insurance claims adjuster and a former member of Roxie and Washington Church.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include one son, Fred R. Davis of Baton Rouge; one sister, Alfredia McNiel Lister of Columbus; and one grandson.

Vivian Marie Walker-Jones

April 6, 1921 – Aug. 13, 1999

PORT GIBSON – Services for Vivian Marie Walker-Jones, 78, of Pattison, who died Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Lloyd Beverly and James Johnson officiating.

Burial will be at Providence Cemetery under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home of Port Gibson.

Visitation is from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Wesley Chapel A.M.E. Church in Pattison and from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Jones was born April 6, 1921 in Claiborne County, the daughter of Leon Walker and Annie Walker.

She was a retired bus driver for Claiborne County Schools and Mississippi Action for Progress, and was manager of Chatmans Florist. Her religious affiliation was Methodist and she was a member of Wesley Chapel A.M.E. Church, Eastern Stars (Golden Star Chapter No. 92) and of the Benovolent Society.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Abraham Jones of Pattison; six daughters and their husbands, Hazel Claiborne, Patricia and Lee Claiborne of Chicago, Ill., Inez Chatman of Port Gibson; Delores &uot;Dianne&uot; Hubbard of Pattison, Lynda and Donald James of Woodbridge, Va. and Sandra Porter of Manassas, Va.; a son, Jerry Warfield of Jackson; a brother, Leroy Walker Sr. of Memphis, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Masonic Brothers.

Honorary pallbearers will be The Southern QC’s of Monticello, Charlie Brooks, Attorney Micheal Keyton and Charlie Norrell.
