Tristan Samuels is ready to get back in action – at another school. After signing with Pratt Junior College last year and sitting out his freshman season as a redshirt, Samuels has transferred to Friends University in Wichita, Kan., a Division III&160;school.

&uot;The coach (Marcus Hicks)&160;at Pratt left for another school and I talked with the coach at Freinds and he told me I could start at No. 2 guard, which is what I like,&uot; Samuels said. &uot;I’m ready to go and really looking forward to it. I’m excited and pumped up to play.&uot;

Samuels played one year at Trinity Episcopal as a foreign exchange student from Australia. He averaged 13.7 points and 5.0 assists at Trinity.

Despite not playing at Pratt, Samuels said the year there helped him tremendously.

&uot;I learned a lot,&uot; he said. &uot;There were a few times I wanted to quit, but I’m glad I stayed with it. Ability-wise I think&160;I’ve gotten better and I’ve improved my speed and quickness.&uot;

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Samuels said he feels like he can go right in and contribute at Friends.

&uot;When I went down there and visited, I played against their other guards and beat them,&uot; he said.

Samuels said he is looking forward to the change from junior college to Division III&160;ball.

&uot;I think it’s going to be easier,&uot;&160;he said. &uot;In junior college, it’s more of people wanting to impress major colleges so they can go somewhere else and play. There will be more team unity at Friends.&uot;
