VIDALIA, La. – Three people have applied for the position of Concordia Parish school superintendent – but two candidates are still not being named, and a choice probably won’t come soon.
Although Interim Superintendent Pete Peterman confirmed that he is one of the candidates, the district’s central office is not releasing the names of the other two candidates. Members of the school board’s search committee could release the names, but committee member Darrell Crofford said Friday he did not expect the committee to review applications that day.
The deadline for applying for the position was 4 p.m. Friday.
Board President Mike Grantham said the search committee will probably not make a recommendation for superintendent until the board’s October or November meeting.
Grantham would not name a date when he expects the board to hire a replacement for former Superintendent James Lee, who in June was not offered a new contract..
&uot;I’d rather not set a timeline, … because we don’t want to rush the process,&uot; Grantham said. &uot;We want to make sure we’ve selected the right person for the job.&uot;
