Three more students arrested

Natchez-Adams&160;County Schools turned an additional three students over to police Wednesday.

This brings the total arrests to 13 this week for the district.

&uot;We’ve decided that fighting is not something we are going to condone in our school district,&uot;&160;said Superintendent Dr. Carl Davis. &uot;We are taking a stand and we are not going to tolerate it.&uot;

A 16-year-old Natchez High student was arrested at around 1 p.m. for allegedly striking another student.

He is charged with disturbing the peace by fighting.

And a 14-year-old girl and boy were arrested at Central Alternative School around 9:35 a.m. Wednesday for allegedly creating a disturbance by threatening each other. The girl is charged with disturbing the peace and simple assault by threats, and the boy is charged with disturbing the peace.

All three students will face suspension and will have a hearing to discuss further repercussions.

District officials hope to improve the system by helping students learn to better handle these type situations and by making them face the consequences, Davis said. &uot;We are determined to get this out of our school district,&uot; he said.

The district is required to contact the police if a violent act takes place on campus, Davis said.

Of the students arrested Tuesday, eight were charged with disturbing the peace by fighting, one was charged with simple assault on a school teacher and another charged with simple assault and disturbing the peace.
