The 5th Annual International Paper/United Way Golf Scramble hopes for better weather than the fourth one had.

Last year in a steady rain, the team of Al Hall, Greg Whitam, Peter Arnold and Al Conn fired a 56 to capture the scramble.

&uot;I’ve been watching the Weather Channel with an eagle eye,&uot; said United Way Director Nancy Webster. &uot;I think it’s going to be all right.&uot;

This year’s event will be held Monday at Beau Pre Country Club.

&uot;That will be nice for golfers who have not had a chance to play out there,&uot; Webster said. &uot;I hear it’s a beautiful golf course.&uot;

There will be shotgun starts of 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Two mulligans can be purchased for $10. To make reservations, call 442-1081.

Several morning tee times are available.

&uot;We’re maxed out with 25 teams in the afternoon, but we still have room for 10 or 11 teams in the morning,&uot; Webster said.

The team Charlie Blaney, Randy Blanton, Kippy Blaney and Keith Walker finished one stroke behind at 57.

Money raised goes directly to United Way agency programs.
