William Christopher &uot;Chris&uot; Bradley stood quietly as Justice Court Judge Danny Barber read a charge of murder against him Tuesday.
Bradley, 25, of 12 Oak Lane, is charged with the murder of Demetric Donnell Long, 21, of 414B Watts Ave. Bradley did not enter a plea during the arraignment proceeding.
According to the charge, Bradley hit Long &uot;upside the head with a tree limb&uot; on Sept. 18. Long died later at University Medical Center.
Bradley was being held on $100,000 bond in the Adams County Jail.
Bradley declined a court-appointed attorney and said that attorney James E. Winfield of Vicksburg would represent him.
Adams County sheriff’s deputies arrested Bradley Monday after he surrendered to them just after 3 p.m.
Long died early Sunday morning from injuries sustained Saturday when Bradley allegedly struck him once in the head with a pecan branch on Margaret Lane off Lower Woodville Road, according to law enforcement reports. Long was pronounced dead at 1:20 a.m. Sunday at University Medical Center.
Adams County Sheriff Tommy Ferrell said the murder may have resulted from an ongoing argument between Bradley and Long.
